JANSEN | BATTERSEA POWER STATION REVITALISATION

A masterclass in adaptive reuse.

Filming onsite at Battersea and architect Wilkinson Eyre’s office, we highlighted the intricacy of the design, engineering and installation of Jansen’s innovative product.

Exploring the broader implications of sustainable architecture, Jansen’s approach to creating durable, energy-efficient solutions has significantly reduced the building’s carbon footprint, setting a benchmark for future restoration projects.

Getting the balance of storytelling, technical detail and scale was crucial and required a really deep understanding of WilkinsonEyre’s challenges and Jansen’s innovative solution; part of the process we really relish.

We wanted to capture not only the technical precision of Jansen’s work but also the philosophy behind it: creating buildings that last without sacrificing beauty, history or function.

Battersea Power Station is an iconic symbol of industrial Britain. It’s restoration was as ambitious as it was complex, merging technical innovation, aesthetic preservation and sustainability at an unprecedented scale.

It was up to steel system manufacturer, Jansen, to create the hundreds of windows that dotted the building. To realise Sebastian Ricard’s ambitious vision of adaptive reuse, they had to look identical to the Victorian originals but perform to the highest modern standards.
